Have you hired a junk removal crew before? You may have asked: Do you tip junk haulers? If yes, how much?

I’ve worked in junk removal for years. Many customers ask me this. Here’s my honest opinion based on real jobs and experience.

Do You Tip Junk Removal Guys?

You don’t have to tip. But it’s a kind thing to do.

Junk removal is tough work. We lift heavy furniture, clear basements, and carry junk up and down stairs. We sweat a lot, and it’s messy.

We don’t expect tips. But when a customer thanks us with a little extra, it feels great.

If the team helped you organize, handled nasty junk, or protected your home’s walls and floors, tipping shows you noticed.

How Much to Tip Junk Removal

How Much Should You Tip?

There’s no rule. But here’s what most customers give:

Small jobs (like a couch or a few bags):
$10–$20 per worker.

Medium jobs (like a garage cleanout):
$20–$40 per worker.

Big or tough jobs (like a full house or construction mess):
$50 or more per worker.

Some customers also bring us lunch or cold drinks. On hot days, that means a lot too.

Do You Need to Tip?

No, you don’t need to tip. Our price already pays for the work. But tipping shows you’re happy with the job.

My rule of thumb:

If we’re on time, work hard, are polite, and leave your place clean, we earned it.

If the crew was rude, slow, or messy, don’t feel bad about not tipping.

Final Thoughts

Tipping is your choice. We don’t expect it. But it feels good when a customer notices our hard work. Even a cold water bottle or a kind word helps.
